Accessibility

The standard the site aims for, and where it falls short.

Continuous Function aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. It does not yet meet that standard everywhere. This statement says where it falls short, how it is tested and how to tell us about a problem.

What the site aims for

Every page should be usable with a keyboard alone, at 200 percent zoom and on a phone screen. Text and controls should have enough contrast in both the day and the night theme. Interactive figures should say in words what they show, and animation should stop when your device asks for reduced motion. Each page has a link to skip to its main content.

Known limits

  • Some interactive figures have text with too little contrast against their background, especially in the night theme.
  • In the night theme, some text and controls on the Verify page have too little contrast against their background.
  • Equations are drawn as HTML with a MathML copy for assistive technology. How well a screen reader reads them depends on the screen reader and the browser.
  • Some figures carry more in their drawing than in their text description, so a person who cannot see the figure may miss part of what it shows.

How the site is tested

When run, an opt-in production sweep checks automated WCAG A and AA rules through version 2.2 on every rendered route, including generated concept and reference pages, at desktop and phone widths in both themes. It checks initial page states in Chromium. Separate component and browser tests exercise selected controls, keyboard paths and text contrast.

The production sweep is not part of continuous integration or the release gate.

Automated tests find many problems but not all of them. They do not test every interactive state or establish usability with a screen reader, zoom or other browsers. Some automated checks return results that need manual review. The site has not been certified by an independent accessibility reviewer, including for screen-reader use.

Report a problem

If part of the site is hard or impossible to use the way you browse, email founder@continuousfunction.ai. Say which page, what you were trying to do and, if you are willing, what you use to browse: for example a screen reader, the keyboard alone, zoom or a high-contrast setting. Reports help decide what to fix first.
